Thanks for looking

I call one gallery WORK and another PERSONAL but, really, it's all personal. Whether I'm upside down in a small aircraft, or shooting my daughter's soccer game, when I pick up a camera, I put everything I have into making pictures that tell a story.

I've been a documentary and assignment photographer since the late 1980s, when I worked for The University of Washington Daily, souping Tri-X in a hot bath of chemicals and printing black and white on deadline. I went on to string for The Seattle Times and The Associated Press and work for some great newspapers and agencies including The Albuquerque Tribune (rip), The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Aberdeen Daily World, and Corbis.

I lived in NYC for 6 years where I freelanced for New York University’s Photo Bureau, worked under contract for The Whitney Museum as their chief event and program photographer, and shot for magazines like Time Out New York, Spin, Shape, INC, Rolling Stone, and Der Spiegel.

Since then, I’ve worked for corporations and agencies including the NFL, NBA, Microsoft, Scholastic, Weyerhauser, The Discovery Channel, Ace Hardware, Revolution Messaging, Publicis Groupe and Habitat For Humanity.

I am based in Portland, Oregon but travel on request

I am currently represented by Zuma Press International for editorial and stock.

Let's discuss your next project!
